MOBINTELECOM enters Finnish and Russian markets with WS2 Ltd of Ireland and Maxon TrakM8 Telematics Solutions.

Mobintelecom Oy, a Finnish company has launched the WS2 Ltd software platform in Finland, capable of monitoring upto ten thousand (10,000) vehicles. WS2 Ltd, previously known as WebSoft, is a privately owned company in Dublin Ireland, is recognised as the market leader in Fixed and Fleet Asset Management and Security Solutions, in Europe.

Finland with a high saturation in mobile telephony and high technological skill and with Russia tagging at the far end of this segmant, forms an interesting base for a simultaneous introduction of Telematic solutions.

From its base in Helsinki, Mobintelecom Oy, a Finnish company is confident of carving a dominant market share in both these markets.

The WS2 software platform which has undergone intensive trials at Securitas Group, the largest security services company in the world, is now ready to accept commercial clients from Finland, Scandinavia and Baltic States.

Securitas will introduce a 24 hour 7 day professional monitoring services to vehicles as well as Fixed Assets enabled with the Maxon TrakM8 Black Box. Already several major insurance companies have expressed their interest in offering discounts on premiums to those who have the TrakM8 unit enabled with Securitas professional surveillance system support.

ÒAny vehicle with the TrakM8 (pronounced TrackMate) and Securitas-WS2 software package, is impossible to be stolen or misappropriated for any great length of timeÓ says Stephen Lowe, COO of Mobintelecom Oy of Helsinki.

Sonera, the leading mobile wireless Internet Services provider estimated that the total Finnish Fixed and Fleet Asset Telematics installations during 2002-2005 may be in the region of 200,000 units. ÒBut we consider that this figure is a very conservative estimateÓ comments Lowe. ÒIn our opinion, and according to our research, the market is closer to 300,000 potential installations and we are aiming for 10-15% of this market during 2002-2005Ó confirmed Stephen Lowe.

Apart from Finland, Mobintelecom has already started their marketing into the Russian market, which is by far the largest market in Northern Europe. ÒHaving been engaged in the former Soviet Union and then Russia since 1984 with Tax Free and trading activity, our entry into North West Russia with the support of WS2, will be a natural seamless exerciseÓ says Lowe. Already Mobintelecom has started an active marketing campaign into the Russian market, and Maxon TrakM8 with WS2 software have been installed in Russian vehicles since July 2002.

In an exclusive release to TelematicsUpdate, Mobintelecom expressed that, a ground breaking announcement will be made by November 2002, of a major cooperation with Russian officials on Telematics Security Solutions.
