Northrop Grumman Purchases a Xybion SPS-1000 Positioning System
The Xybion SPS-1000 Positioning System will be used as a part of a Surveillance and Reconnaissance (SAR) payload test bed for the Global Hawk unmanned aerial reconnaissance vehicle.
Clearwater, FL (PRWEB) October 4, 2002 -- Xybion Corporation, Sensor Positioning Systems (Xybion), a designer and manufacturer of adaptable, highly reliable, very accurate positioning systems, announced today that Northrop Grumman, Electronic Systems Group, Azusa, California has purchased a standard SPS-1000 Positioning System to be used as part of a Surveillance and Reconnaissance (SAR) payload test bed for the Global Hawk. If Northrop's experiment is successful, the SPS-1000 would become a key component of up to five additional flight systems and possibly be used for other airborne applications on the Global Hawk as well. Xybion may also be asked to support the systems analysis required to qualify the product for flight applications. The current contract is valued at over $100,000.
