Former Enron Executive Reveals Truths Government Refused to Hear

Former Enron Executive Reveals Truths Government Refused to Hear in new book "House of Cards: Confessions of an Enron Executive."

Former Enron Executive Lynn Brewer contacted government officials to relate her firsthand knowledge of her previous employers corrupt business practices. She even offered to hand over powerful evidence and incriminating documents. But the officials declined.

Brewer had a great deal of information, since she witnessed egregious acts of bank fraud, espionage, cover-ups, and the mind-boggling corporate shell games that have cost the public billions.

Determined to get the truth out to the public, Brewer decided to write a book. After being courted by a number of literary agents, she signed with one, formed a partnership with co-author Matthew Scott Hansen (Andy Kaufman Revealed), and made a six figure deal with HarperCollins imprint ReganBooks for House of Cards: Confessions of an Enron Executive.

Upon review of the completed manuscript, her editor enthusiastically turned it over to company lawyers. The weeks ticked by without a word. Finally, citing legal concerns, HarperCollins informed Brewers agent they would not be publishing the book. Undaunted, Brewer turned to Bobby Bernshausen, owner of the small, Texas-based Virtualbookworm.com Publishing. After reading the book, Bernshausen offered everything at his disposal -- including mortgaging his home if necessary -- to get the book and the truth into the publics hands.

In her book, Brewer details such shockers as how she uncovered massive bank fraud and then was told to conceal it; her public confrontation with CEO Jeff Skilling over a conspiracy to sell substandard gas; the nature of partnerships formed by CFO Andy Fastow, designed to confuse any attempts at deciphering them; her discovery of espionage, theft, and subsequent coverup by the husband of Enron powerhouse Rebecca Mark; the extraordinary antics of Enrons electricity traders and their scheme to print money;" how Enrons infamous "rank and yank" review process brutalized employees and set them at each others throats; and how many women at Enron saw sleeping to the top as their only chance at promotion.

House of Cards: Confessions Of An Enron Executive (ISBN 1-58939-248-5; $19.95) is a riveting, shocking, richly detailed, and often hilarious look at the company that has become the gold standard for ethical misconduct and blinding greed. The book is available directly from Virtualbookworm.com and www.Enronbook.com. It can also be ordered through such online booksellers as Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble.com.
