AppsChannel, Inc. releases Visual Workbench for Microsoft Visual Studio .NET

AppsChannel, a member of Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Integration Program, proudly announces the release of Visual Workbench version 1.0. Visual Workbench declares war on software maintainability with the advent of a new paradigm in visually oriented programming methodology for C# and Visual Basic .NET. Now you can develop visually inside Visual Studios IDE.

Tulsa, OK 10/1/2002-- AppsChannel, Inc. today released Visual Workbench, a plug-in tool which extends the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET integrated development environment (IDE).

Other products stand outside the IDE and try to stuff material into projects," says Don Wagner, AppsChannel President and Chief Architect. Worse yet, most of the tools being offered today are re-wraps of old COM based tools and many of them dont even attempt to integrate but actually operate in spite of the IDE."

Visual Workbench is unique. Created by using Microsoft .NET technology and targeted from inception to the developer using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, Visual Workbench uses a flow-chart metaphor to conceptualize and render a programming solution in one step. The resultant logic flow map is stored as XML (Extensible Markup Language) and can be repeatedly used to generate in-context source code directly to the code editor window.

The ability of Visual Workbench to provide intelligent in-context code generation, in response to a graphical representation of logic flow, pushes the technology envelope for intelligent programming tools to a new standard." -- Dr. George Gillen, Professor and Associate Dean -- Oral Roberts University.

With Visual Workbench, AppsChannel is delivering an exciting new development experience that will greatly aid development teams using Visual Studio .NET," said Sam Henry, technical product manager for the Developer Platform and Evangelism Division at Microsoft Corp.

By storing its logic flow maps as XML, Visual Workbench provides Microsoft .NET and XML Web services compatibility as well as implementing a methodology independent of programming language restrictions. Currently, the Visual Workbench XML maps can be re-used in projects employing the Microsoft Visual Basic .NET and Visual C# .NET languages. AppsChannel has announced plans to support Microsoft Visual J# .NET and Visual C++ .NET.

AppsChannel is a member of the Microsoft Visual Studio .NET Integration Program (VSIP).
