Amgen Officer and Vice President Mike Narachi has joined the Board of Directors of SinusPharma, the company dedicated to innovative sinus care therapies. Mr. Narachis experience with clinical development strategies and commercial product development will contribute significantly as SinusPharma builds its new subsidiary, SinusPharmaceuticals Research.
October 7, 2002, CARPINTERIA, CA -- Amgen Officer and Vice President Mike Narachi has joined the Board of Directors of SinusPharma, the company dedicated to innovative sinus care therapies. Mr. Narachis experience with clinical development strategies and commercial product development will contribute significantly as SinusPharma builds its new subsidiary, SinusPharmaceuticals Research.
Mikes strong background in research and development, extensive, hands-on experience with the FDAs regulatory process, and considerable business acumen strengthens SinusPharmas Board. Mr. Narachi is General Manager of Amgens Anemia Business. In this role, Mr. Narachi leads an integrated medical, marketing, and sales team whose chief aim is to eliminate anemia and its complications." Today, approximately one million U.S. patients receive treatment for their anemia with Amgens EPO (trade names EPOGEN® and PROCRIT®). Global sales of epoetin alpha are approximately $6 billion, forecasted to exceed $10 billion by 2005.
Mr. Narachi joined Amgen in July 1984 as a Molecular Biology Research Associate. Since that time, he has held various positions throughout the organization including: Product Development Team Leader for NEUPOGEN®; Director of Clinical Operations in Thousand Oaks, CA and Cambridge, UK; Vice President of Development and Representative Director for Amgen Japan; Head of Corporate Strategic Planning; Chief Operating Officer of Amgen BioPharma, Amgens Colorado-based company which developed new therapies for Inflammatory Diseases; and Vice President, Licensing & Business Development.
