It's Raining Men - In the Name of Lou Gehrig
Charity Bachelor Auction to Benefit organization dedicated to finding a cause and cure for Lou Gehrig's Disease
Philadelphia, PA - The Weather Girls 1983 hit will have extreme meaning this weekend. It will definitely be raining men on Sunday October 13th, and Cecelias restaurant is soaking them all up! The restaurant, located at 228 Vine Street will be hosting a charity bachelor auction this weekend to support the ALS Hope Foundation. Approximately 25 single men have willingly made themselves available to help support research into a cause and cure of Lou Gehrigs Disease, formally known as ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
All proceeds of the auction will benefit the ALS Hope Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to funding the research of ALS. We see just how much of an impact this disease can have on families, and we wanted to have a fun event that would raise money towards this under-researched disease," says Terry Paylor, RN, Secretary of the Board for the ALS Hope Foundation. Our patients generally have a death sentence within two to five years of being diagnosed, because there is no known cause or cure for this horrendous disease. By having a lighthearted event we hope to bring some enjoyment to our patients lives, as well as putting hope on the horizon for the future," notes Paylor.
To hear someone like Terry talking about this disease breaks anyones heart, so of course we at Cecelias wanted to help the foundation out by hosting this event," states Bobby DiBenedetto, manager of Cecelias. Were a fairly new restaurant in town, and by helping out a great charity like the ALS Hope Foundation, we are also letting people know that were not just about food and entertainment, because we also care about our community."
The HUNKS For Hope Bachelor Auction will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Sunday October 13th inside Cecelias. The event is open to the public for a $25 fee at the door (tickets can be purchased ahead of time by calling 215-551-0967). The $25 includes a buffet dinner and an open bar for wine and beer, and of course the chance to win a date with a single man!

ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis: commonly called Lou Gehrig's Disease) is a degenerative disease of the nervous system that leads to progressive weakness. It affects people of all ages and all races.
Over time, people with ALS lose their ability to walk, grasp, speak and swallow. When breathing becomes involved, the person with ALS will die without the support of a breathing machine. The typical life span is two to five years following the diagnosis. Although there is no cure yet, there is treatment.
