Malaysia Airlines in Final Implementation Stage of Maintenance & Engineering System - 2000 (MES-2000)

Enterprise Systems Solutions, LLC today announced that Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is in the final stage of implementing their Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) product, MES-2000.

The entire process of customizing the system and migrating and converting the data from multiple mainframe systems took somewhat longer than originally anticipated, but the effort will be well worth it, according to Mr. Kernail Singh, company spokesman Technical Services department at MAS. Mr. Singh added:MAS is finally going to replace our old inflexible mainframe system with a modern and fully integrated system that will help us manage all the complexities of technical and legal aspects of aircraft maintenance requirements, as well as in streamline areas of maintenance planning and production planning and control.We have a large and varied fleet comprising of B747's, B777's, B737's Airbus and Fokker aircraft. The system provides us the ability to specify and track the maintenance program, airworthiness directives, service bulletins, and other special requirements, both on a fleet-wise as well as individual aircraft basis. The system is not restricted to airframe maintenance, but can track complex requirements for complex assemblies such as engines and landing gear.The system is providing us with a many-fold increase in recording and tracking critical information as well as improving inter-departmental communications, which is all extremely vital for our upgrading the airlines maintenance performance.We all, in the Engineering and Maintenance departments are looking forward to the formal system cutover which is expected with a few months, when the full positive impact of the system will be felt company-wide."About Malaysia AirlinesMalaysia Airlines is the national air carrier of Malaysia.
