XCHANGEPOINT COMMENCES EUROPEAN OPERATIONS WITH KEY PARTNER - TELEHOUSE EUROPE
XchangePoint partners with Telehouse to provide unprecedented Internet Interconnect services in Hamburg and Northern Germany
London, 8th October, 2002 - Leading Metro-area interconnect provider, XchangePoint, is making their first step into the European market by setting up an Interconnect Platform, in cooperation with TelehouseŇ Europe, to address the burgeoning requirement for Internet Interconnect in Hamburg and Northern Germany. This represents the realisation of XchangePoint's ambitious plans for the European market and marks a major step in their development.
The services, to be implemented by Telehouse and XchangePoint, starting in November, will provide greater flexibility of Internet interconnect to the region and bring together the managed services expertise of Telehouse with XchangePoint's world class Interconnect implementation, deployment and management.
The success of this partnership is expected to mirror the rapid take-up that has been seen in XchangePoint's London operation. During the period of December 2001 to September 2002, XchangePoint increased its customer base from 11 to over 50.
XchangePoint has been working together with Telehouse, since its service launch in June 2000, to provide flexible Interconnect services as part of XchangePoint's distributed Metropolitan Interconnect Platform in London. This new venture will give XchangePoint and Telehouse a vital geographical position in Northern Germany, opening up the Nordic regions, the former East Germany and Eastern European Interconnect markets, in line with XchangePoint's European rollout plans.
This key venture is the start of a major European initiative for XchangePoint, with four further rollouts in metropolitan areas including Paris and Frankfurt, planned within the next two years.
