Demonstrating one-click Web App Generator and Giving Netscape 7 a Facelift

SAN JOSE, California -- October 2, 2002 -- Vultus, Inc., a leader in advanced Web Service user interface (UI) software and development products, today announced the availability of WebFace Solution Suite 3.2 at the Web Services Edge 2002 Conference & Expo in San Jose. WebFace Solution Suite 3.2 continues to deliver on the promise of accelerating the Web Services industry by introducing advanced Web application generation and intelligent, reusable components. With its enhanced performance features and dynamic component library, Vultus WebFace Solution Suite 3.2 now becomes the premier mechanism of Web application creation and delivery.

The WebFace Solution Suite 3.2 is designed to meet the emerging needs of large and small enterprise customers by transforming traditional, client/server applications into fast, feature-rich Web applications that are cost effective, familiar to end-users, browser and platform independent and standards compliant. WebFace technologies overcome many of the challenges associated with traditional software management, utilizing the Web to streamline software versioning, upgrades and distribution.

To showcase the enhanced features and cross-browser independence of WebFace Solution Suite 3.2, Vultus will demonstrate one-click Web application generation and WebFace applications running Netscape 7 at booth #204 at the Web Services Edge 2002 Conference. Vultus will also demonstrate a number of WebFace sample applications – accessing a variety of Web Services including a weather service, stock service, LDAP directory, HR directory, government services, IMAP4 e-mail server, etc.

Consisting of the WebFace Browser Application Platform and WebFace Studio, WebFace Solution Suite 3.2 has extended its extensive library of intelligent, reusable application components (data grids, datasets, directory trees, tab folders, dynamic panels, etc.) to more than eighty individual application elements. All of these components are now easily manipulated and integrated within WebFace Studio – the solution suite’s powerful, drag-and-drop development environment that specializes in linking visual and non-visual components to back-end data and associated business logic.

“The essence of our current offering is to make launching a full-featured Web application as easy as hitting a Web page,” explains Mike Meservy, president and CEO of Vultus. “Although the World Wide Web is a spectacular tool for facilitating information exchange, it has faltered in opening true business interaction and collaboration to the enterprise. Software is still very much a boxed commodity, rather than a distributed service. WebFace Solution Suite 3.2 changes all that by introducing a single, Web-friendly mechanism that allows customers, employees and/or partners to pull up a fully functional software application in a Web browser.”

The WebFace Solution Suite 3.2 continues to leverage the power of XML, JavaScript, HTML and SOAP to offer seamless, server-side integration that does not require cumbersome plug-ins or Java applets to facilitate Web application delivery. WebFace technologies interact with any service executing over HTTP: including SOAP, .ASP, JSP, JavaServlets, PHP, Perl, etc.

WebFace FaceOff

To celebrate this important milestone, individuals within the high-tech community – regardless of Web application development background or training – are invited to experience the WebFace FaceOff, an exciting Web application development contest hosted by Vultus. This unique programming challenge exposes participants to the latest in Web Service technologies (including SOAP, WSDL, XML, etc.) in a powerful and easy-to-use development environment.

WebFace FaceOff begins October 2, 2002 at the Web Services Edge 2002 Conference & Expo and ends December 31, 2002 at midnight PDT. Final judging, awards and Web application posting (at is scheduled for January 17, 2003. To register for the contest, visit the Vultus Edge 2002 conference booth #204 or enter at
