BUSINESS LAYERS LEVERAGES STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH RSA SECURITY TO DELIVER END-TO-END IDENTITY MANAGEMENT SOLUTION
Business Layers eProvision Software and RSA ClearTrust® Software Provide Critical eBusiness Enabler Utilizing Microsoft Active Directory to Offer Enterprise-Class Provisioning, Authentication and Web Access Management
RSA® Conference - Paris, FRANCE - October 9, 2002 - Business Layers, Inc., the eProvisioning Company, today announced the expansion of its strategic partnership with RSA Security (Nasdaq: RSAS) to deliver an end-to-end identity management solution for Fortune 1000 customers. The solution integrates RSA ClearTrust® software and Microsoft Active Directory with Business Layers eProvision Software to provide a best of breed end-to-end identity management solution that delivers Web single sign-on, extranet self-service and delegated administration, significantly increasing security and reducing application deployment time.
The comprehensive nature of the Business Layers solution, which includes best of breed security and IT automation, allows customers to use the same technology for both internal and external applications and arrive at a unified identity for each user. Other Identity Management Solutions often force enterprises to choose different vendors for each of their applications. Research shows that most companies have multiple, isolated "islands of identity" within their infrastructure, which are created when user information is stored in multiple repositories that are not managed by a single system, creating possible security vulnerabilities, inconsistency in user identity and privilege information, increasing management complexity and cost.
"There is growing market demand for a comprehensive identity management solution that incorporates user provisioning, extranet access management and directory services," said Roberta Witty, Research Director at Gartner, Inc. "We anticipate growing interest from large enterprises and other organizations that are seeking to unify security and identity, reduce IT integration and management costs, improve time to market, and increase productivity for themselves, partners, and clients."
By unifying the management of Web access privileges in relation to other enterprise resources, Business Layers and RSA Security create, administer and revoke access rights for Web users that coincide with changes in the backend applications - creating a unified identity and consistent security for each user.
"We are pleased to see Business Layers deliver strong directory-enabled solutions that utilize Active Directory," said Jackson Shaw, product manager for Active Directory at Microsoft. "Customers are lowering their overall total cost of ownership when deploying Active Directory as an application directory over competitive directory solutions. More and more, Active Directory is being deployed to support enterprise applications like Business Layers eProvision and RSA ClearTrust software."
"Provisioning is a natural extension to Web-based access control requirements, particularly where customers need to manage approval processes and offer users self-service capabilities when providing access privileges," said Joe Uniejewski, senior vice president, Web Access Management division at RSA Security. "The integrated Business Layers, RSA ClearTrust software and Microsoft Active Directory solution is intended to provide customers with a trusted identity and access management solution to help address these requirements in Web-based infrastructures."
"We are responding to an overwhelming demand from our enterprise customers for a comprehensive identity management solution that is secure, manageable, and scales to meet enterprise demands," said Benny Shoham, vice president, Business Development at Business Layers. "By combining our own leading technology with market leading technologies from Microsoft and RSA Security, we have been able to create an end-to-end identity management solution that meets these requirements and fits seamlessly into any enterprise's overall security strategy."
