Celebrities Planning to Make A Difference on October 26 -- Media Interviews Available Upon Request - Prior to or on Location
A host of celebrity personalities are rolling up their sleeves to spearhead positive change around the country - and rally others to do the same - on Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of community service which takes place this year on Saturday, October 26.

Participating celebrities who are available to provide media interviews include:
• Wynonna Judd in New Brunswick, NJ. Judd, along with her children, will join New Jersey Governor James McGreevey at a New Brunswick library to help him reach the goal of having 80,000 state employees donate 100,000 books at various locations across the state.
• Martina McBride in Nashville, TN. McBride, along with her family and friends from her record label, RCA, will sort donations and make repairs to Safe Haven, a local family shelter for victims of domestic violence. The project also includes a coat drive to collect supplies and clothing for kids and a Halloween party for the children later that evening.
• Vanna White in Santa Monica, CA. White will join California Governor Gray Davis and his wife Sharon Davis to present a $25,000 check from Verizon to the Friends of the Santa Monica Library as part of Verizons Literacy Champions program. White is also expected to read an excerpt from Mrs. Davis book, The Adventures of Capitol Kitty to students in attendance, and sign Literacy Champion posters for the children.
• Miss America 2003 Erika Harold in Washington, D.C. Harold will join about 300 volunteers from the White House Freedom Corps, KaBOOM and Home Depot to build a playground in Oxon Run Park in the Anacostia section of the city.
An estimated 3,000,000 Americans are expected to volunteer in their local communities on Make A Difference Day, which is sponsored by USA WEEKEND Magazine in partnership with the Points of Light Foundation & Volunteer Center National Network. Now in its 12th year, Make A Difference Day participants includes hundreds of community and nonprofit organizations that use the day to rejuvenate, clean, educate and make America a better place.
