PC Assemblers Can Now Compete with the 'Big Guys
Early Impact releases Build-to-Order extension to its shopping cart software
MISSION VIEJO, CA, October 16, 2002 /For General Release/ -- Early Impact, an eCommerce Software Development company, announced today the release of Build-to-Order", which extends the functionality of its ProductCart shopping cart software by allowing merchants to sell configurable products and services online.
Build-to-Order allows small businesses to handle the sale of complex products and services that are configured by the customer during the ordering process. For example, PC assemblers can now easily offer their customers the ability to configure, quote, and purchase fully customized computer systems on their Web sites, just like large computer manufacturers do. Until today, such a Web site would have required a large investment of time and money to be developed.
Build-to-Order isnt just for computer retailers. Catering services, printing services, consulting services, custom furniture shops... The applications are endless. Todays small business eCommerce software typically does not support the sale of products and services that are defined by the customer during the buying process. ProductCart Build-to-Order fills this gap, allowing businesses to take their business online regardless of the complexity of the products and services that they sell.
Among Build-to-Orders powerful and completely unique features:
- Quickly setup configurable products & services -- A point-&-click interface allows merchants to assign any number of items to a configurable product, organizing them in meaningful categories that are shown to the user as drop-down menus, radio buttons, or check boxes, depending on how they are setup.
- Full control of the customers experience -- The system gives merchants complete flexibility in defining which options should be available for selections; which options should be required; which options should be exclusive (choose one or the other) and which should not (choose any of the following); how the price should change when different options are selected; etc.
- Define 'default configurations -- Merchants can suggest a default configuration that their customers can choose 'as is or edit as they wish. The products price is calculated dynamically and instantly updated based on the merchants default selections and the customizations selected by the user.
- Custom quotes 24x7. Build-to-Order can also transform a Web site into a powerful, 24x7 custom quoting system. Customers have the ability to save the product or service that they have configured to their account so that they may print it, edit it and submit it as an order at any time.
The Build-to-Order extension can be easily added to any on-line store powered by Early Impacts ProductCart shopping cart. The software is available for $395 per storefront, and requires a ProductCart license, which is also sold for $395 per storefront. A pre-release version of the software can be seen in use in a real-life environment on VigorPC.com, a provider of quality custom computer systems (http://www.vigorpc.com).
