FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
Passion Leads to the Pleasure of His Company
Angela Henry, founder of the award-winning mystery website MystNoir, has taken her passion for mystery fiction a step further with the release of her first mystery novel, The Pleasure of His Company: A Kendra Clayton Mystery. Set in the fictional college town of Willow, Ohio, The Pleasure of His Company introduces African-American teacher, Kendra Clayton.
Single, twenty-something Kendra Clayton, a part-time English instructor for a GED program, always knew her friend and coworker Bernie Gibson's flashy boyfriend, Jordan Wallace, was monogamy challenged. Kendra couldn't be happier when Bernie suddenly declares she's ending her relationship with Jordan. But when Jordan is found brutally murdered, and Bernie asks Kendra to withhold seemingly harmless information from the police, Kendra is baffled but reluctantly goes along with Bernie's request. She thinks she's just helping her friend out. However, Kendra finds out the price of friendship may be too high when Bernie reveals a secret that ultimately implicates her in Jordan's murder and thanks to the information Kendra withheld from the police, possible criminal charges are hanging over Kendra's own head. Believing in Bernie's innocence, Kendra soon realizes the only way out is to find the killer herself!
Angela Henry received an Honorable Mention in Ebony magazines tenth annual Gertrude Johnson Williams Writing Contest and is a contributor to the forthcoming anthology Proverbs for the People, being released by Kensington Publishing Corporation in June, 2003. She was a columnist for the YouShouldWrite E-Mag published by author Cathie Beck and also founded the MystNoir website which promotes African-American mystery writers and characters in May, 2000. MystNoir has been featured in Black Issues Book Review magazine, received a Golden Web Award for 2002-2003, and was chosen as a site of the week by the Arts & Entertainment channels Mysteries.com in September, 2002. Much like her character Kendra Clayton, Henry once worked for a GED program.
