Aliens in the Mainstream--
The Masters, by C.Y. Pang, Blends Asian Culture with Fantasy for Sci-Fi Thrills
The Masters, by C.Y. Pang, combines the topical issues of cultural acceptance and alien encounters. Not only is our world becoming smaller, but so is the Universe.
Ft. Lauderdale, FL, October 2002-America is a mosaic made up of what were once considered alien cultures. Forty years ago, we were fighting for Civil Rights, but today, our young adults dont discriminate based on gender, ethnic background, or racial heritage. In fact, what has occurred is really a celebration of cultural differences as we incorporate what were once alien practices into our daily lives. Weve even gone beyond the acceptance of various Earth cultures to include the truly alien-little green men, vampires, and monsters. We are now to the point where we can combine the rich cultural offerings of the past with the possibilities of the future.
The Masters, by C.Y. Pang, draws upon our fascination with Asian culture and our desire to explore the alien cultures out there." It opens a window into other worlds as it travels from a present day alien encounter, to the adventures of ancient Chinese warriors, and into a galaxy light years away. Jinh and his friends find themselves locked in an action-packed journey that is romantic, erotic, sad, humorous, thrilling, and horrifying. Blending oriental martial arts, fantasy, and science fiction, the author provides a coherent example of the way divergent cultures can interact and form a mosaic of their own.
...an imaginative story with a certain charm...a cross between Mayberry RFD, Star Wars, The Wild Ones, and Shogun." Bruce Boston, author of Masque of Dreams...
On a warm summer night, a reddish flash appears in the cold dark of space and crashes to Earth. Stopping to investigate, Jinh meets a woman, her face white as snow and luminous, shining with an inner light. A ghost? An alien? Or just a woman? His act of kindness will bring calamity, as well as new adventure, into the lives of his family and friends. But what choice does he have? The Masters, by C.Y.
