PLEXIS Claims Manager Provides Compliance
With Recently Announced Final HIPAA Regulations
Ashland, Oregon -- September 10, 2002 -- Due to the long and convoluted process that it took to arrive at the final HIPAA regulations, many providers and insurers have a fearful perception of what compliance will entail. Compliance with the recently announced final regulations may be difficult for some healthcare organizations, but it doesn't have to be. In actuality, compliance can be as easy as selecting a vendor who has built HIPAA compliance into their systems.
One such company is http://www.plexisweb.com">PLEXIS Healthcare Systems, Inc., headquartered in Ashland, OR. "We have monitored the provisions of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) since it was first introduced," said Charles Cherry, Privacy Officer at PLEXIS Healthcare Systems. "Our company's primary product, the PLEXIS Claims Manager, was designed and has been updated to meet and exceed all HIPAA rules as they were proposed. We incorporated the electronic transaction and privacy requirements into our Claims Manager software, as they evolved out of the HHS department," Mr. Cherry continued.
The PLEXIS EDI Toolkit provides electronic information inflow and outflow that meet all the mandated electronic transaction regulations that hospitals and insurers will be required to use by October 2002. To comply with the privacy regulations, the system provides audit reports that allow clients to completely monitor all activity throughout the Claims Manager system. System administrators can tell immediately who has accessed data and what information has been accessed. The system's automated batch processing features not only expedite claims adjudication, but they also allow clients to direct transactions to authorized personnel.
The recently announced final HIPAA regulations are much more streamlined than their original version of 1999. According to a recent written statement by Richard Davidson, president of the American Hospital Association (AHA), the final rules strike the right balance between privacy concerns and the ability of patients to get timely, effective care.
"Knowing how the federal government operates, we can probably expect HIPAA regulations to evolve even further, but rest assured the privacy experts at PLEXIS Healthcare Systems will monitor that evolution very closely to insure our Claims Manager system remains in complete compliance," Mr. Cherry concluded.
