Anti-Surveillance Group Declares War on Public Video Voyeurism
Virginia Beach, VA -- October 14, 2002 -- A majority of the general public is unaware of how out of control secret video spying is in public places. A recent state Supreme Court decision declared as lewd but legal" upskirt photography in a public place. This and other similar rulings demands an accelerated call to action for the Anti-Surveillance Defense Group, a single-issue organization, formed to combat the worldwide proliferation of both overt and covert use of video surveillance cameras.
"It's an outrage -- I think it would outrage anyone," said Ron Brazil, director of U.S. Operations for ASDG. "Our wives, mothers and children go out in public and don't expect people to look under their clothes. Its such a basic issue of privacy that any court in the country should find this violates that right. Unfortunately, that's not the case."
Experts predict the use of miniature video cameras will continue to increase at a rapid pace over the next several years. Much of this videotaping is for the purpose of obtaining
sexually oriented material. Because of the huge and growing number of cameras in use, ASDG does not lobby or become involved in the debate to slow down the rapidly expanding use of video surveillance devices.
"Instead, our mission is to educate the worldwide population about the advancements in use of video technology and to research and develop a line of Personal Video Surveillance Defense Products. Our products will allow an individual to personally opt-out of being photographed by any video camera within a specified range", indicated Mr. Brazil.
Invizi-Shield is a compact device that is carried on the person and performs the function of intercepting and destroying all video surveillance recordings and transmissions from video recording devices within a user definable range. Also currently under development is the Signal-Slammer, a device that can be used against both overt and covert video surveillance cameras. A line of personal jewelry and watches designed for anti-video surveillance is also under consideration.
ASDG believes individuals who are passionate about protecting their liberty, freedom and privacy will take action to preserve it. ASDG also believes: "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." -- Benjamin Franklin, 1759 Historical Review of Pennsylvania--
The Anti-Surveillance Defense Group is a member-based organization and the line of Personal Video Surveillance Defense Products is available only through membership.
