MCC Publishing Consultants, Inc. Announces New Service

The Washington Post, Washington, DC has acquired the services of MCC for conversion and customization of dictionaries and related programs to be used with the Post's CCI publishing system.

MCC is using its TextStream software to extract a selection of words from Webster's dictionary in XML format. Elements of this process include:
Conversion of accented characters
Word selection based on criteria such as preferred spelling, foreign words and proper names
Extracting, or if not present, generating, inflected forms of words such as plural for nouns and conjugations of verbs
The extracted and conjugated words are compared to the existing spelling dictionary, rendering two lists of words that are different in the two dictionaries.

This process will reduce the number of words that need to be evaluated for inclusion in the final dictionary.

MCC Publishing Consultants, Inc. has been assisting publishers with development, integration and support since 1993.
