Iraqi Opposition: "Osama bin Laden possibly in Bagdad"

Saddam Hussein has close contacts to the Al Quaeda terror network of Osama bin Laden, a high ranking official of the Iraqi opposition told the European E-Zine Stories & Texte.

"Osama bin Laden may possibly be in Bagdad", Safaa Mahmoud, European represantative of the Iraqi opposition group "Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution" told the German-language news network "Stories & Texte" in an interview. According to Mr. Mahmoud Saddam Hussein has close contacts with Al Quaeda since 1998, when the Iraqi ambassador in Ankara, Faruk Hijazi, met with an Al Quada official to negotiate support for bin Laden.
Safaa Mahmoud also told Stories & Texte, that Saddam Hussein might have been informed of the terrible attacks on Sept., 11 th. He also stated, that the Iraqi regime organized the setup of two Al Quaeda training camps in Iraq and that, since the fall of the Taliban Regime in Afghanistan, some Al Quaeda terrorists including Osama bin Laden himself fled to Iraq. "He may possibly be in Bagdad", Mahmoud said.
