College Graduate/Author Receives High School Diploma
Almost 20 years after receiving his College diploma, on October 22, 2002, Mr. Ruble is receiving his High School diploma.
Robert L. Ruble dropped out of high school over 50 years ago because he wanted to join the United States Armed Forces. As he proudly wore his uniform, he soon came to realize how important the education was that he had so freely given up.
When the opportunity arose for Mr. Ruble to get his GED, he jumped at the chance. With determination and cracking the books, he passed the test. After a 23-year career in the United States Marine Corps, Mr. Ruble retired.
In his fifties, employed as the Chief of Police in Kennesaw, Georgia, Mr. Ruble still felt the need to further his education. Working around a busy schedule of running the police department, attending the F.B.I. Academys 129th Session, and taking night classes at Brenau College, Mr. Ruble graduated with a B.S. Degree.
Military honors include: The Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V"; The Unit Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. Police certifications include: P.O.S.T. Certified Executive Level; Radar Instructor; Forensic Hypnotist. Police Honors include: attendance at the FBI National Academy, 129th Session; Georgia State President of the National Association of Chiefs of Police; 11th District Vice-President of Georgia Chiefs of Police; J. Edgar Hoover Memorial Award for Distinguished Police Service; 1983 Americanism Award from Citizens Offering Police Support (COPS); The James Madison Award for Excellence in Journalism for the newspaper article A Tale of Two Gun Cities"; and was listed in both the 1980 and 1983 editions of WHOS WHO IN AMERICAN LAW ENFORCEMENT, and the 1986 edition of MEN OF ACHIEVEMENT.
Recently, Mr. Ruble authored his first novel, Have No Mercy, under the pseudonym, Bobby Ruble. In one of his many interviews about how his new writing career got started, Bobby was asked about the many awards he has received throughout his life. If he had to choose, of which was he the most proud.
My B.S. Degree from Brenau," Bobby answered.
When asked if he felt there was any other award or honor that he would like to have, Bobby replied, Yes, I wish I would have received a high school diploma."
Bobby is getting his wish. On October 22, 2002, the Board of Education of Kenosha Unified School District No. 1, Kenosha, Wisconsin, will proudly present Robert L. Ruble his long awaited high school diploma. A dream come true for Mr. Ruble.
Unfortunately, Mr. Rubles health prevents him from traveling from his home in Central City, Nebraska to Kenosha, Wisconsin. One of his grade school chums, Mr. Bob Chase (Retired Lieutenant, Kenosha Police Department), who still resides in Kenosha, has graciously agreed to stand in and accept the diploma for Mr. Ruble.
