HEW to launch SREV
Hardiman Enterprises Worldwide Pty Ltd announced today the launch of its new SREV, an electric vehicle. The SREV will be launched in 2005, and will be available throughout Australia.
In an informal meeting held today at HEW Pty Ltd's Heidelberg head office it was announced that December '05 will see the launch of its first major line of electric vehicles.
The vehicles first show-room appearance will come in March '05 when a limited edition [of 20 vehicles] will be auctioned. Later in the same year the full production model will be released to the public.
The announcement follows three weeks of discussions between President/CEO, Jonathan Hardiman, and the company's three major investors.
When asked what this vehicle has that other EV's don't, Mr Hardiman had this to say:
"The vehicle has an onboard recharging unit that works while you're driving. In fact, the only time that the recharging unit isn't working is when it is sitting in the garage, the opposite of most recharging units for electric vehicles.
As though the announcement of the launch wasn't enough to get the competition riled, the young CEO had this to add:
"We will be selling the vehicles at a price between $8000 and $10000, and all of our vehicles will come with a lifetime warranty and 24hr road-side assistance. Standard features include air-conditioning [there'll be no 'free air' ads here], cd/tape/radio, true-safety seat belts [racing style], electric windows, and electric mirrors."
The company has spent six years researching and developing the vehicle and believes it could be the first major step away from the combustion engine.
