Fibernets commercial and technical expertise see it chosen for 7m contract
Basingstoke, 21 October 2002.
Fibernet Group plc, the communications solutions company, has today announced a 7 million contract to provide InTechnology, the UKs largest provider of data storage and management solutions, with a national high-speed backbone network, upgrading its legacy network to a 2.5Gbps diversely routed resilient Gigabit Ethernet ring around the UK. This significant increase in bandwidth has enabled InTechnology to extend its industry-wide data storage and management solution for mixed platform environments. It has dramatically improved the capacity of its business, and ultimately the provision of its Managed Data Services.
The new network will link 10 of InTechnologys sites across the UK, including its main data back-up facility in Harrogate and London, greatly increasing the delivery speeds by which its customers will be able to access their mission critical information. It will also enable employees to be able to access all company data from any point in the UK without a substantial increase in operational costs. InTechnology is a leading player in the vital market for secure offsite data backup, protection and recovery services, its Managed Data Services offer data backup and real time replication to remote and secure data centres. The networks resilience and security was therefore of utmost importance when suppliers were considered.
Fibernets solution provides a completely new and secure networking platform upon which InTechnology can maintain its reputation for developing and delivering some of the UKs most innovative storage service solutions," said Charles Cameron, Chief Executive Officer of InTechnology.
We looked at many other providers before selecting Fibernet," commented John Swingewood, Chief Technical Officer for InTechnology. Other companies could not offer the flexibility or innovation in terms of the solution, or the rapid entry to market. Fibernet was able to provide us with an immediate solution - a state of the art wide area network, which is flexible in the way that we are able to deploy our services. The solution really did fit all of InTechnologys technical and logistical needs."
The core of the network needed to be extremely secure and robust," said Charles McGregor, Chief Executive Officer at Fibernet. The network must be able to carry corporate traffic as well as critical client data, and maintaining the integrity and security of business data is now more vital than ever. InTechnology chose Fibernet as a partner with 16 years of experience in delivering high performance data networks in particular to financial organisations - Ultimately, it chose Fibernet as a partner it could rely on to maintain its excellent reputation."
