Toshibas SDIO Card Integrates Silicon Waves SiW1703 Bluetooth Radio Modem
Integrating Bluetooth wireless technology into mobile phones, notebook PCs, PDAs and other portable devices just got easier.
Silicon Wave announced today that Toshiba Corporation selected its Bluetooth radio modem IC for the newly launched Toshiba SDIO (Secure Digital Input Output) Card.
Designed for easy integration, the SDIO Card contains Toshibas baseband LSI and Silicon Waves SiW1703 Radio Modem.

SAN DIEGO, CA, October 21, 2002 -- Silicon Wave, a leading supplier of integrated circuits for Wireless Personal Area Networks, announced today that Toshiba Corporation selected its Bluetooth radio modem IC for the newly launched Toshiba SDIO (Secure Digital Input Output) Card. Designed for easy integration into mobile phones, notebook PCs, PDAs and other portable devices, the SDIO Card contains Toshibas baseband LSI and Silicon Waves SiW1703 Radio Modem. The card is Bluetooth Specification Version 1.1 qualified and is listed on the Bluetooth Qualified Product List (BQPL) that can be found at the official site of the Bluetooth SIG (www.bluetooth.com).

The SiW1703 Radio Modem is a fully integrated, direct-conversion IC designed for ultra-low power consumption, low system cost and superior RF performance over an extended temperature range. The SiW1703 is Bluetooth Specification Version 1.1 qualified, supports the Nokia RF-BB interface and is in full volume production.
The new card from Toshiba is an update of last years SD version and targets portable consumer equipment such as digital cameras that have an SDIO slot. Silicon Waves Bluetooth radio modem has allowed Toshiba to deliver a solution that dramatically reduces the size and power consumption of the previous SD model.
