THE NERVOUS CABARET www.nervouscabaret.com Playing in New York as a quartette, The Nervous Cabaret take influences extending from 70s London punk, devotional vocal styling and Django influenced rhythm guitar, and smashes them together to create music which breaks apart the typical crossovers of Jazz and Rock music. The songwriting of front man KiD SiC (a.k.a. Elyas Khan), well known in New York for his theatrical performances and described by one fan as royalty in dirty disguise", weaves a winding gothic-arched cobble stone path through the mind of the listener leading a journey to the underbelly of the city; be that London, New York, Bombay or Paris.
AM RADIO www.am-radio.org AM Radio started in the dark ages of music in the year 1998 and then proceeded to let loose their strum and drang bliss at various residencies around the city. With a deceptively chaotic sound and an unadulterated sweet center AM Radio brought verve into the music without having to invent a swagger to go with it. Gaining the ear of Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Renaldo who recorded their full length album No Handle" (winter 2001) AM Radios ever progressing unconventional noise/pop rock is just beginning to thrive.
THE KING OF FRANCE www.thekingoffranceband.com The King Of France produce a deeply melodic, hook laden art pop somewhat reminiscent of The Talking Heads and mid era Velvet Underground. This moody Brooklyn trio plays uplifting songs of dread and wonder. The band is named after the French stereotype that crazy people tend to think they're the King of France. It's precisely those delusions of grandeur that the band experiences when they play their music. With any luck, other people will feel the same.
THE BRONX MONX www.bronxmonx.com The Bronx Monx use their music to communicate their frustration, bewilderment and hope in tomorrow's world. The result is a sonic adventure aiming to spark the cinema of the mind. Happy to be performing in New York after a two month odyssey in San Francisco. They have a 12" series due in 2003, as well as their first full-length album. In addition, they are working with several artists including KiD SiC of The Nervous Cabaret on future releases. They have opened for Atari Teenage Riot, Roni Size and DJ Krust, Company Flow, The AntiPop Consortium, Add N to X and Saul Williams.
