(Worcester, MA) 10/21/2002 Candidate for State Representative, Aidan Yeaw, announced today that his campaign has disallowed campaign contributions from lobbyists and special interest groups, including political actions committees (PACs), and will continue this policy heading into the election. Mr. Yeaw is an unenrolled candidate for State Representative in the 16th Worcester district running against two term incumbent Democrat John Fresolo.
Mr. Yeaw feels it is a major conflict of interest in the political process because lobbyists and special interest groups exert enormous clout in the legislature by financing legislators election campaigns. Mr. Yeaw states, You need to look no further than this years budget process. The legislature should have reduced spending, but due to the influence of special interests and lobbyists, the taxpayers of Massachusetts are paying more taxes as a direct result."
Mr. Yeaw also stated, If elected, I will go to Beacon Hill to represent what is best for the people of the 16th district, not whats best for special interests and lobbyists."
