Owners, managers and team leaders of black and minority enterprises in North London will be able to participate in fully-funded management skills training programmes to develop their leadership, organisational, business and management skills. The programme provides participants with blended online and face-to-face training, with the opportunity to achieve nationally-recognised qualifications.

The training programmes, known as the North London Business Development Account (NBA), are available to managers and team leaders of small businesses based in Barnet, Enfield, Haringey and Waltham Forest who have had little or no formal management skills training. NBA aims to equip beneficiaries with fundamental management skills to help them achieve a productive, competitive and high-performing business. The programme will cover aspects of leading and motivating teams; managing and controlling resources.

NBA offers a rich and diverse range of training methods, allowing beneficiaries to experience interactive, flexible online learning, as well as face-to-face, instructor-led training. The programme covers the basic principles of management and assists learners in obtaining nationally-recognised qualifications, such as:
-   Foundation Certificate in Team Leading (awarded by the Institute of Leadership & Management);
-   Introductory Certificate in Management (awarded by NEBSM);
-   Certificate in Management (awarded by Middlesex University).

The North London Business Development Account will be delivered by iLearn.To in partnership with Academy of Learning and Middlesex University. People who work in black and minority enterprises in North London with less than 250 employees will be able to join the programme at no cost, fully subsidised by the Learning and Skills Council.

The black and ethnic minority groups make up more than 25% of the North London population, with a relatively large proportion of individuals in self-employment or in managerial positions. Our blended training programme offers beneficiaries a flexible and effective way of acquiring and updating essential management skills that fit in with their busy work schedule and commitments. The programmes have been carefully designed to give SME owners and managers the training that is appropriate and relevant to obtaining effective business results." said Myco Doan, Chief Learning Officer at iLearn.To.

The NBA will be officially launched on 25th October 2002 at the Interactive Diversity Xchange 2002, Business Design Centre, N1.
