Seaweed Systems announces the award of a major contract for its SeaWind/178B-3D product by Rockwell Collins for use on the prestigious CAAS program

Woodinville, Washington -- October 25, 2002 -- Seaweed Systems, Inc., a leading developer and supplier of OpenGL® and X Window System embedded graphics driver products, today announced the award of a significant contract by Rockwell Collins (NYSE: COL). The contract calls for Seaweed to deliver its DO-178B certifiable, SeaWind/178B-3D CertKit product to Rockwell Collins for use on the recently-awarded US Army Special Operations, Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) program.

The CAAS program was awarded to Rockwell Collins in March, 2002 and will see the retrofit of Multi Function Displays (MFDs) to all US Army SOF A/MH-6, MH-47D/E, MH-60L/K and MH-60L IDAP helicopters. It is significant since Rockwell Collins will be using an open systems approach for this program, with their graphics applications running on top of Seaweeds certifiable, Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) OpenGL® subset API, tailored for Rockwell Collins platform.

The selection of CertKit by a company as prominent as Rockwell Collins is especially significant to Seaweed as it will be the first application of our DO-178B certifiable subset API for a program with 3D needs. We have worked closely with Rockwell Collins on the definition of the subset functionality and both companies are hopeful that it will help form the basis for an industry standard, COTS certifiable subset for 3D avionics applications." said Robert Schulman (President, Seaweed Systems). Seaweed is proud of its reputation for providing great products that come complete with full lifecycle maintenance and we are proud to be the chosen supplier. We see this selection by Rockwell Collins as a vote of confidence for these products and this approach and look forward to establishing an enduring working relationship with Rockwell Collins on this program that may lead to cooperation on other programs in the future."
