Cross the Line
by Denise Clark
PublishAmerica is proud to announce that Cross the Line, by Denise Clark, has been translated for the South Korean market by Yacom Publishers in Seoul, South Korea.
Cross the Line is an historical action/romance set during the turbulent months of Americas involvement in World War I. The trenches of Belgium and France serve as an interesting, unique setting. With a female lead in a strong role, the novel tells the story of Josie LeMay and her rightful place in a mans world. The year is 1917, and the Womens movement is propelling society into the age of modern thinking-a time when ideas of the past gave way to the acceptance of woman as competent members of society.
Josie Le May is one of those women, strong-willed, yet not abrasive, trained in a male-dominated occupation which is stubbornly hesitant to allow woman to make any kind of important decisions. Mistrust and prejudice follow her from Montana to the battlefields of Europe. The barrier Josie faces is a nearly indomitable barrier for anyone of less mettle than she. She faces her challenges head on.
She holds her own against the intimidation tactics of her Commanding Officer, Keno Beauvais. While he is torn between his admiration for someone as independent as Josie, he is also annoyed because that same quality conflicts with his old-fashioned view of women. Their ensuing, volatile interactions provide interesting, often amusing, fodder for their relationship.
Denise Clark has studied Literature and German and has participated in several writing workshops offered through UC Berkeley. She enjoys researching Native American and American Military history, especially from the Civil War and World War II. These interests often find a way into the novels she writes. Her second book, A Mans War, is also available from PublishAmerica. She currently resides in Southern California.
