Internet WorkShop WebHosting: Unix webhosting provider lowers rates, adds
features to secure Linux/Apache server w/Webglimpse search engine.
Full-featured Unix webhosting: new rates 25/mo include secure Linux/Apache
server, PHP 4, Perl 5.6, Webglimpse search engine, cybercash, wusage
reports, mSQL and MySQL databases, shopping carts and more. Will help
install any GPL'd software.
Internet WorkShop, a family-owned webhosting provider since 1995, has
announced new lower rates and offered to add any GPL'd software that
clients are interested in.
"We are seeing an upswing in our business now that clients are more leery
of the
huge corporate discount providers, and are looking for small stable
businesses they can rely on. All of our customers can directly contact the
owner and system administrator, and get an answer back!" - says Golda
Velez, the owner and sysadmin of Internet WorkShop.
"We've also lowered our rates, so that we can be competitive in the
marketplace and give a break to our long-term customers. We have many
customers still with us from 1995, 1996 and 1997 and we wanted to make sure
they got their rates lowered before we offered discounts to anyone else.
Now we have one low rate across the board for everyone."
The decision to offer free installation of any GPL'd software deemed to be
of general interest came out of their experience with software development,
Velez said. "There's a famous article called 'The Cathedral and the
Bazaar'. Basically, it says that many eyes, many requests, is a good
thing. Some people treat user requests as a burden. We treat them as
valuable information about what users need. When one user requests
something, often it is helpful for others as well and makes us a better
webhosting provider."
