The Factory Store at 750 Pine Street will feature a live chocolate-making demonstration Saturday, November 16 at 1:00 PM. Kirk Weed, a chocolatier with 25 years experience in the confection industry, will show table tempering, shell molding, how to make Rochers, and give tips and advice on how to turn chocolate into delectable treats. In addition to basic chocolate-making tips, Kirk will convey an understanding of how anyone can turn untempered chocolate into edible art, right in their own kitchen. Visitors will learn from a master chocolatier in a relaxed atmosphere, with the opportunity to have their chocolate-making questions answered by a professional. To add to the fun, everyone who attends will also get a complimentary taste of the temptations Kirk creates.
Lake Champlain Chocolates free factory tours run Monday through Saturday, 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, on the hour, and were chosen a Top 25 Pick for Kids" in the Vermont Chamber of Commerce Winter Guide 2003. Visitors get to watch chocolatiers in action from an elevated observation deck overlooking the factory floor, as well as learn about cocoa bean harvesting, roasting, and processing through a colorful educational diorama.
