Indianapolis, IN -- October 28, 2002. Progeny, the Linux Platform Company, announced today that Garth Dickey has joined the company as President and CEO. Steve Schafer has assumed the position of Chief Operating Officer.

We are very pleased to have Garth leading our team. He brings considerable management experience and valuable perspective to Progeny," said Ian Murdock, founder of Progeny and Chairman of the Board. Garths leadership will help Progeny realize its vision of becoming an end-to-end provider of Linux platform services."

Garths diverse management experience encompasses a strong financial background, with an emphasis on corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and strategic planning. Prior to joining Progeny, he worked with a number of early- and growth-stage information technology companies as an independent consultant. His involvement with the local information technology community includes being an active member of the Board of Directors of INITA (Indiana Information Technology Association) for four years.

I have known Ian Murdock since he founded Progeny and have followed the companys development with great interest. We have a remarkable assemblage of technical talent and I welcome the opportunity to be a part of Progeny during this exciting period of growth," said Dickey.

An Indiana native, educated at Yale, Garth returned to Indianapolis in 1995, where he served as Director of the Indiana Public Employees Retirement Fund, an $8+ billion multiplan, multi-employer pension system with more than 200,000 members. He functioned as CEO and Chief Investment Officer through a period of critical development in investment activities and management under Governors Bayh and OBannon.

From 1998 to 2001, he was a principal and co-founder of MWV Capital Partners, Indianas largest SBIC, focused on raising and investing private capital in growth- and expansion-stage companies in the Midwest.

Before returning to Indiana, Garth held executive positions as a banker and investment banker in several financial institutions in New York.
