HIPEREXCHANGE, NEW CLIENT SOFTWARE DELIVERING UNPARALELLED PERFORMANCE AND USABILITY FOR MICROSOFT EXCHANGE USERS, TO BE DEMOED AT TELECOM 2002

Recently Launched Software HiPerExchange Now Available for Customer Orders

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., October 29, 2002 -- Seaside Software will demo HiPerExchange, the first client side software to fully address the substantive performance and usability challenges that confront millions of remote access users of Microsoft Exchange worldwide, at Telecom 2002, Israels premier telecommunications event. Specifically, HiPerExchange provides sub-second response time from any location, regardless of the connection.

A fully portable application for simple deployment, HiPerExchange has been designed to resolve each of the current barriers to a productive and responsive user experience with MS Exchange.

According to Ferris Research, a leading market research firm specializing in messaging and collaboration, remote access from a client to MS Exchange Server has always been problematic. Customers facing significant issues with Exchange remote access should make a tactical investment in HiPerExchange," said Michael Sampson, consulting analyst with Ferris Research. This is one of the most innovative Exchange solutions weve seen in a while."

Whether your network connection quality is good or poor, the underlying technology in HiPerExchange works to combine the best features of Outlook, Outlook Web Access (OWA), and other Exchange access mechanisms. HiPerExchange greatly enhances user productivity by summarily eliminating:

•   long multi-second or multi-minute download times under typical scenarios
•   repeated waits for server refresh on every access
•   painful Outlook synchronization issues when connecting to a network

How HiPerExchange Works

Once installed, HiPerExchange builds a replica of the Exchange OWA server inside the client. For traveling and remote users this means all the data from the Exchange server is replicated and synchronized whenever you are online. Users can then access all their data locally online or offline, plus gain continual access to full groupware and the rich features of MS Exchange such as Email, Calendar, Address Book and Contacts -- features currently unavailable through common POP3 or IMAP4 access.

According to NetsEdge Research, a leading research and consulting firm specializing in areas related to Internet infrastructure, there is significant room for improving the quality and performance of broadly used Internet applications today, especially Email -- the most critical Web-enabled application.

We have yet to see another solution that so successfully addresses the speed of execution and interactivity problems inherent with Exchange access, said Peter Christy, principal with NetsEdge Research. HiPerExchange makes using Exchange remotely feel like running Excel, or Word."

HiPerExchange is ideally suited for use by extended enterprises with increasing numbers of remote offices and mobile users. Today, in U.S. companies with over 3,500 employees today, remote users make up 60 percent of the total workforce, according to research conducted by Cahners-Instat. For wide scale deployment, HiPerExchange requires no server side software, server modifications or changes at the corporate data center, thereby helping to reduce IT management costs and complexity concerns. Administrators can also limit external access to Exchange to one protocol.

We experienced instant recognition of the positive impact on TCO and user productivity among the IT managers at companies currently evaluating HiPerExchange for enterprise-wide or department level deployments," said Seaside CEO, David Butler. A number of IT managers specifically told us this will change the way they think about deploying Exchange going forward."

Available now, HiPerExchange can be ordered directly from Seaside Software or through authorized resellers. Contact details may be found at www.seasidesw.com HiPerExchange is priced at $99.00 USD for individual users. Product demonstrations will be held at the upcoming Telecom 2002, November 4-7 in Tel Aviv, Israel in Booth 3 (Startups World).
