In an effort to provide technology-based enrichment programs to Englewood students, Project ENCORE of Englewood Public Schools, Youth Organizations USA (YOUSA) and Community Bridges Inc. have entered into an alliance to offer the Community Bridges BisTech Camp.

Englewood, NJ--October 28, 2002-In an effort to provide technology-based enrichment programs to Englewood students, Project ENCORE of Englewood Public Schools, Youth Organizations USA (YOUSA) and Community Bridges Inc. have entered into an alliance to offer the Community Bridges BisTech Camp. Described as a mini MBA" and technology certification program for motivated students in the 7th-10th grades, the Community Bridges BisTech Camp will afford students the opportunity to learn concepts essential to being an entrepreneur and
technology professional.

In an Entrepreneurship class the students will learn entrepreneurial skills and develop their own business plans, as they learn and utilize word processing and presentation software. Students will learn how to find and use valuable Internet resources completing fun projects in the Internet Information Superhighway class. In the Life Skills component students will get the chance to play games that imitate real-life scenarios. The decisions that they make while playing will teach them essential financial literacy and social lessons, as well as affect their chances of winning prizes. Students will get extraordinary hands-on experience with technology in the Computer Construction class where they learn how to build, maintain, and upgrade a new personal computer that they will get to take home and keep. In addition, students will take field trips each month that provide them with a real life" example of where their newly found skills and training could lead in the real world". Students will also be afforded the opportunity to learn from experienced professionals who make presentations regarding technology and entrepreneurship and answer student questions. The BisTech Camp will culminate with a business plan competition for a cash award toward start-up costs and will be judged by members from the local business community and school administrators.

Adults will be given the opportunity to volunteer to assist with classroom management, while they learn with the students of the BisTech Camp and become active participants in the learning process.

The Community Bridges BisTech Camp will be held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3:30pm-6:00 in the Major Russell C. Liberty School ACE Lab and the YOUSA office (12 Tenafly Road). At a cost of $550 per student, the Community Bridges BisTech Camp will accommodate up to 16 students. Registration will close on Monday December 16th, 2002 and the BisTech Camp is scheduled to begin on Tuesday January 7th, 2003. Scholarships are available. An adult computer program will also be offered.
