RAD Data Communications Opens Wholly Owned Subsidiary in Beijing
Will Provide Localized Production and Repair Services in China
Tel Aviv and Beijing, October 31, 2002: RAD Data Communications has announced that it is opening a wholly owned limited company to localize operations in China. The new company, which is to be called RAD Data Communications Equipment Co (Beijing) Ltd., will provide localized production and repair services, as well as allow RAD to increase the Chinese content of its products through additional sourcing of components.
Localized production of products will focus initially on those that are selling in particularly high volume, such as xDSL modems based on MSDSL and SHDSL technologies and digital interface converters.
"The establishment of RAD Data Communications Equipment Company (Beijing) is the platform for the localization of our operations and will serve to further solidify our market leadership in the access network arena in China," stated Jeremy Zimman, Director of Operations for Greater China at RAD Data Communications. "With the completion of the telecom market reorganization in China, the access network build-out is set to grow exponentially in the coming years, and the ideal time to launch our new strategy is now."
A Long-Term Commitment to the Chinese Market
"This is a milestone in RAD's long-term commitment to the Chinese market," Zimman explained. "China was the first country in which RAD opened an overseas office outside of the United States, and we now have three offices in addition to our new subsidiary," he continued. "Even though the global telecom market is currently experiencing a downturn, RAD is increasing our investment in strategic markets, one of the foremost of which is China."
