Over 500 Students Sing 'The Declaration of Independence Song in Florida Classrooms during Celebrate Freedom Week!

Public school teachers in Florida find new CD single, 'The Declaration of Independence Song' a great resource during Celebrate Freedom Week this year. The new song puts the words of The Declaration of Independence to music to make learning fun.

Public school teachers across Florida found the new CD single, 'The Declaration of Independence Song to be a hit with their students during Celebrate Freedom Week.

Created by 9th grader, Steffy Boyd and her family to help her master a school memorization assignment, this new song offers teachers and students a fun way to remember and recite the famous words of Thomas Jefferson. Steffy, who also performs the vocals on the CD, said, Singing makes learning easy!"

Im glad we could help Florida students learn the words of this important proclamation," said Jack Boyd, Steffys father, who performed the music and produced the CD.    

When Florida public school teachers returned to school in August, they began planning for the first annual 'Celebrate Freedom Week, designated by Florida state legislators as the last week in September and requiring students to receive special instruction on Americas history. In response to the new state bill, teachers gave students special instruction on Americas history and led the students in the recitation of a portion of the Declaration of Independence during Celebrate Freedom Week.

Florida teachers discovered Boyds website, www.declarationsong.com, while searching for educational resources on the Internet. Mr. Boyd remarked, While teachers from kindergarten to eighth grade purchased the CD, the greatest interest came from K through 4th grade teachers where music is an important tool in the classroom."

"My first graders loved to sing along -- especially the chorus. We sang it in class everyday. The students really learned the words!" said Judy Stone of Eastside Elementary in Brooksville, FL. Second grade teacher, Vicki Klemke of Riverglades Elementary in Parkland, FL, said, "My students loved the song! They caught on fast and the song really helped them learn the words." Eighth grade teacher, Clara Nell Clegorne of North Marlon Middle School in Citra, FL commented, Music is a great way to learn and my students will always know where those important words come from."
