Lighthouse Documentary "Keeper Of The Burnt Light" To Be Released On DVD
Boothbay Harbor, Maine; Escape TV, Inc. has just wrapped production on the life and times of Jim Buotte. Jim was the last Keeper to work on Burnt Island Light in the 1950's prior to it's electricifacation.
Burnt Island Light was built at the west side of the entrance to Boothbay Harbor in 1821, one of the earliest lighthouses in the area.
The Escape TV team and Jim Buotte lived and worked on Burnt Island for several days, capturing Keeper Jim's tales of ghosts, ship wrecks and long winter's isolation.
You will walk along with Keeper Jim up into the tower, to the boat house and around the Island. He fills your imagination to what it was truly like to be a Lighthouse Keeper before their automation.
An oral and visual history of Burnt Island Light is also given by present day keeper Elaine Jones. Take a boat ride around the Island with Elaine plus, enjoy an historical excursion while viewing a centuries worth of photographs.
Escape TV is now editing the project for release on DVD in the Spring of 2003.
