TextBanners.Net Offers Alternative to Pop Ups
Web advertising is a must for anyone looking to generate revenue or offset the cost of maintaining and running their Web site. Pop ups have proven intrusive and ineffective. Now, there's a free tool that enables a revenue generating stream for Web sites that provides content sensitve advertising as well.
Canton, MI (PRWEB) November 9, 2002 -- Stardock Corporation today announced TextBanners.net, a new Internet service that allows owners of websites to instantly have text advertising of any size integrated onto their sites. The new service offers an effective solution to the intrusiveness of pop-ups and full screen ads while still addressing the need for advertising on the Web.
Special interest communities on the Web, where individuals share ideas, cull information and participate in community forums, are at risk of dying out unless webmasters are able to effectively generate revenue. Simply visiting TextBanners.net and signing up to receive the HTML code for their site will enable many community sites to offset their cost of operation.
Pop-Up ads clearly didnt work and went so far as to annoy Internet users. Now that major providers such as AOL and Earthlink are banning pop-ups from running on their services, advertisers will lose a huge portion of their target market. TextBanners, however, will be unaffected by the movement and still enable users to place advertising.
As it stands now, users who visit most websites are greeted with obnoxious pop-up ads that have nothing to do with the site theyre visiting," says Brad Wardell, president and CEO of Stardock. We were looking for a simple, easy-to-use solution that would enable advertising revenue, but maintain the integrity of one of our sites, WinCustomize.com. Nothing existed to meet our needs so we developed the concept of TextBanners.net. We realized that this would not only level the playing field for Web advertising, but would be a substantial revenue generator for any sites without the resources for advertising."
Webmasters can visit the TextBanners.net site to create an account where they can specify the size and look of the text ad for their site, and how much they want to charge per impression. TextBanners.net then emails a small piece of HTML code to the webmaster who then inserts the code onto the page where the text ad should appear.
Users of the webmasters site who wish to advertise need only click on a link right below the text ad. The link takes them to TextBanners.net where they can enter how much they want to spend on the ad. This determines how many impressions the users ad will receive on that site. The advertisement is then sent to the webmaster, who can accept or reject the ad.
TextBanners.net costs nothing for the webmaster to set up, and the webmaster receives 80% of the income from the ads. Stardock provides the maintenance and support and monetary (credit card) transactions behind the scenes, so webmasters do nothing more than install the code and accept or reject ads.
TextBanners.net is a win-win situation for advertisers and Web surfers alike," concludes Wardell. For advertisers, TextBanners.net levels the playing field by making advertising available to everyone regardless of budget size, allows them to place content relative ads on related websites, and offers an alternative source of revenue for smaller sites. For Web visitors, our goal is to reverse the course of intrusive marketing."
