Nashville, TN-Veteran singer, songwriter, guitarist and producer Steve Wariner has launched his own record label, SelecTone Records, for the release of STEAL ANOTHER DAY in February 2003. Caryn [Wariners wife and business partner] and I talked about doing a record on our own for years," Wariner says. When I recorded 'Holes in the Floor of Heaven we were talking about it, though we ended up bringing the song to Capitol and that was the right decision at that time. But we also watched friends of ours go out on their own, and their success helped us decide now was the right time for us."
Wariner wrote or co-wrote every song on STEAL ANOTHER DAY, which he also produced. The entire project was recorded at his 2,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art home studio and features A-list musicians and a special guest appearance by Wariners friend, Lee Roy Parnell.
Wariner brought in the same musicians from the original sessions and used the same instruments and amps for faithful re-recordings of five of his former #1 hits--The Weekend," Some Fools Never Learn," You Can Dream of Me," Where Did I Go Wrong," and Small Town Girl." The recuts are almost identical to the originals," Wariner says. I really do not believe in new modern takes on old songs that arent even close to the original. These are brought into the modern era, taking advantage of the latest technological advances in recording."
Wariners official web site, www.stevewariner.com, will be completely revamped and re-launched on November 15 with audio clips from the new CD. For the first time, the site will be set up as an additional venue for selling Wariners CDs. A limited number of copies of This Christmas Prayer" will be available for credit card purchase through the web site beginning November 15, with a portion of the proceeds going to the Salvation Armys Angel Tree program.
