Interest Builds for Inaugural Computer Crimes Expo in Reno May 6-8
New Event Focuses on Computer Crime: Todays Realities, Tomorrows Trends
The Computer Crimes Expo (C2 Expo, www.c2expo.com) is a new exposition and conference focusing on products, services and solutions designed to fight the growing plague of crimes committed on and with computers worldwide, will be held at the Reno Convention Center, May 6-8, 2003.
Worldwide interest -- from companies wanting to exhibit, experts wanting to speak, and executives and personnel responsible for securing computer systems at their businesses and organizations wanting to attend conference sessions -- has been generated by the inaugural Computer Crimes Expo (C2 Expo, www.C2Expo.com), set for the Reno Convention Center, May 6-8, 2003.
So says Brenda Beckelman, president of Savvy Solutions, producer of the international exposition and conference which focuses on products, services and solutions designed to fight the growing plague of crimes committed on and with computers worldwide.
The conference is heart and soul of any viable technology industry event," she said, and right now we are putting the final touches on what we believe will be a very exciting and worthwhile three days of keynotes, panel discussions, and break-out sessions."
Executives, Other Experts in Conference Program
The launch of C2 Expo generated interest from around the world from companies, speakers and conferees, providing impetus for the show, primary and sponsoring exhibitors, and everyone involved," she said. The Call for Papers and Speakers, she said, attracted attention and participation of leaders of high-tech solution providers and others involved in the day-to-day battle against computer crime and criminals."
Executives from Guidance Software will be among the presenters currently scheduled. President and general counsel John Patzakis will discuss complexities of computer forensics investigation and digital evidence preservation and authentication in a "Computer Investigations in Corporate America: An Ounce of Prevention is Worth It" session; William Siebert, director of CIS and enterprise consulting, will lead a panel on Enterprise Response, Auditing, and Discovery (ERAD), focusing on digital content in the enterprise," and Bob Sheldon, a senior vice president, will head a Computer Forensics in Todays Investigative Process" panel.
Among the presenters scheduled, she said, are David West, executive vice president of Equinox Information Systems, with a Telecom Fraud Management" session covering keys to retaining earnings and avoiding losses, and Jayne A. Hitchcock, president of WHOA (Working to Halt Online Abuse) and author of NET CRIMES & MISDEMEANORS: Outmaneuvering the Spammers, Swindlers and Stalkers Who Are Targeting You Online, with The Wild, Wild Web: Cyber stalking," providing important information and insights for law enforcement officers, educators, others who want to learn more about cyber stalking/online harassment, including the basics of tracking down perpetrators and working with victims.
When executives, government and law enforcement officials, Internet service providers (ISPs), educators and those purchasing for consumer-oriented retailers go to non-focused trade events such as COMDEX, Networld + Interop and others seeking computer crime-fighting products, solutions and expertise, they are lucky if they can find what they really came to see," said David A. Kaminer, co-founder and show director of C2Expo, and former the long-time spokesperson for COMDEX. Now, at C2 Expo, there will be a high-end focus of companies, experts and attendees all vitally concerned with stemming the growing tide of computer-based crime."
Kaminer said the Computer Crimes Expos Conference will focus on:
-- Data Security, including state-of-the-art insights, methods and products which protect systems and data from intrusion, theft and/or corruption by Cyber thieves or viruses;
