Escape from Ebay-
Professional Collectibles Traders find MetaExchange.
Ask anyone and they'll tell you the number one gripe with most online
auction sites: ridiculously high fees. For example, Ebay charges a
fee to list an item, a fee if you want to list it as a "Buy It Now,"
a fee if you want to put a reserve (minimum price) on it, a fee if
you want one than one picture, and a fee when it sells, based on the
final price.
If fees are keeping you from listing your items, there's an online
collectibles site that you should know about: MetaExchange. There
are no fees unless your item sells, and you can list your item for
exactly what you think it's worth. If you're a buyer, there are no
fees at all for you (even to join), and you can post a price to buy
any item for what YOU think it's worth!
MetaExchange's slogan is that it's a "Stock Exchange for Stuff," and
nothing could describe it better. Just like the "real" stock
exchange, collectible categories are subdivided into "pits," and
that's where all the action happens. Each pit has a graph showing the
price history, and you can see both the last several sales prices and
all the sell and buy orders already listed in the pit. You never have
to worry about someone coming in at the last second and one-upping
your bid.
MetaExchange is a place to buy and sell at actual market value, and
likewise, its users SET actual market value by buying and selling at
their fixed prices. Many online collectibles information sites have
linked to us for price information on popular collectibles. An
example of this is Smart Collecting's price guide page for Beanie
Babies: http://www.smartcollecting.com/priceguides/list.htm
Another exciting aspect of MetaExchange is that you can list to buy
or sell an item for as long as one month to as short as 24 hours. If
it doesn't get matched, you will be sent an email telling you that
you can relist, and all you have to do is click the link in the email
to go right to your item. You also can list in a single bid any
quantity of an item to buy or sell.
If you've never used MetaExchange, take a look now at
