Miss World 2002 - First Global Text Vote
Miss World today announced the launch of the first ever global text vote - the largest and most ambitious campaign the wireless industry has ever seen. The audience vote is being conducted in conjunction with this years Miss World final to be held in Nigeria on 7th December. Regenerator, the London based commercial innovation business, together with wireless partner Flytxt, have created the world's first global text vote as part of plans to further develop the Miss World franchise, and are responsible for creating, managing and delivering the service.
From 18th November until midnight GMT on 6th December, anyone in the world with a GSM mobile phone will be able to vote for the contestant of his or her choice. The Global Audience Text Vote will count for half of the total votes in deciding the eventual winner of Miss World 2002, with the panel of judges at the event contributing the other 50%. Every vote cast will qualify for an entry into the draw for a fabulous trip for two to Miss World 2003.
The live televised event is expected to attract a global audience of over 2 billion in 130 countries, and in the three weeks up to the show, fans around the world will get the chance to vote via SMS for their favourite Miss World participant. 'For the first time in 52 years, everyone can have a say in selecting Miss World said Julia Morley, Chairman of Miss World Organisation.
All contestants are featured on the Miss World website at www.missworld.org, and the audience vote will be promoted in the Miss World television preview shows to be shown globally from 28th November.
