Smyrna, TN Â September 18, 2003- MaxPower Aerospace Inc is putting the finishing touches on their first ever Airplane Home and expect to deliver it to the new owner within the next 60 days. The owner who wishes not to be identified at this time will be using the Airplane Home as rental property at their resort outside of Dollywood.
"I found this property while chatting on the internet about the Silohome," said Donald Peters of San Antonio, Texas, whose company IwillSELLyourSTUFF.com markets high-end products for people on eBay. ÂI immediately called Thomas Bennington, owner of Max Power Aerospace, Inc. (maxpoweraero.com) and asked him if I could sell his Airplane Homes on eBay"
The Airplane Home can be custom built on the inside to the owners taste. Current airplane windows can be converted into 6Â curved windows. The wings can be turned into decks complete with handrails. Rooms can be built and arranged to taste. The 727 fuselage is 1,210 sf and the wings can hold 70 people and is 1,200 sf. Max Power Aerospace, Inc. also has much larger wide-body airplanes in their inventory.
ÂWe have essentially created a hurricane proof home Said Mr. Bennington, ÂYou and your family could actually stay in the aircraft and Âfly through a hurricane. We think that these could be very practical houses in areas such as The Outer Banks and along the Florida coastline.Â
Mr. BenningtonÂs company supplies used aircraft parts to the airlines and aircraft owners throughout the country. Once he has removed all of the necessary parts he is left with a large empty fuselage. He always thought that converting the leftover airplane into a home, bar or restaurant would be much better than cutting it up and scraping it. Through patented technology his company is offering a complete Airplane Home that sits 20Â off the ground and can rotate manually or weathervane into the wind. You supply the location, and he will supply the home. Each Airplane Home will be shipped from their Smyrna, TN location.
ÂI may be biased because I was an Army Aviator, but when I first saw the initial photos of this aircraft, I thought this would make a really cool bar and could envision one of these in every city Said Mr. Peters, ÂI think it would be a great way for everyone to be in first class.Â
Max Power Aerospace, Inc. has plenty 727Âs ready for conversion. The normal cost is $300K plus shipping for one of these homes. Â The one offered on eBay currently goes for $285K delivered.
