Technology Pathways, LLC Releases ProDiscover(tm) DFT Enterprise (Open Source) Licensing
ProDiscover(tm) DFT, Technology Pathways flagship product for computer forensics became available as Open Source today. The newly added Enterprise Licensing of ProDiscover(tm) DFT includes full object oriented source code allowing organizations to modify the code for internal use. Open Source computer forensics software allows the user to know whats going on under the hood making the softwares use easier to defend in court. ProDiscover(tm) DFT is the first Windows based computer forensics suite to be offered as open source.
We think this is a bold move on our part... one which will hopefully start a trend within the computer forensics industry" says Christopher L. T. Brown Technology Pathways CEO. ProDiscover(tm) DFT was one of the first computer forensics tools to offer support for the detection and analysis of the Hardware Protected Area on disks and now is the first Windows based computer forensics suite to offer open source distribution. ProDiscover(tm) DFT features include the ability to collect, analyze, report on and manage computer disk evidence.
Erin Kenneally, M.F.S., JD, President of the High Technology Crime Investigators Association San Diego Chapter recently stated "Open source software enhances the ability to prove that the results produced are repeatable, objective and verifiable- attributes that courts of law use to measure the reliability of digital evidence. At a time when software tools have become "digital eyewitnesses" and automate forensic analyses, open source software will certainly assist in gauging the validity of opinions that are based on the ever-increasing use of these tools."
A privately held company, Technology Pathways LLC was founded in April 2001 to provide powerful software tools and services to the computer security community at affordable prices.
