Christian Defense Coalition Calls Upon House Not To Pass Bankruptcy Bill Which Singles Out Peaceful Pro-life Demonstrators

Group Says Passage of the Bill by Republican Leadership Would Be a "Betrayal" to The Pro-life/Pro-family Movement That Helped Republicans Regain the Senate Last Week.

Coalition Director, Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Also Calls Passage of Bill a Violation of Free Speech Rights.

Mahoney Faces Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars in Civil Judgements for His Peaceful Demonstrations at Abortion Clinics Across the Country.

Washington DC: In response to this legislation, Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney comments, "If the republican majority passes this Bankruptcy Bill, it is clearly a slap in the face to the pro-life/pro-family community that helped them win the historic mid-term elections last Tuesday. Is this the reward for working so hard to help the republicans regain the Senate? This Bill also needs to be defeated, as it is a violation of the First Amendment because it singles out a certain type of peaceful demonstration. If this legislation were in place in the 60's, it would have targeted civil rights workers who peacefully conducted sit-ins at segregated lunch counters."
