We are the new website on the block!! We were developed due to a riding accident that left our owner having surgery for a factured femur and pelvis. We were her brainchild to help defer her hospital/doctor expenses incurred because of no health insurance at that time. Following is a brief recap of incident for your enjoyment and future thoughts for your riding safety.

My Newest Dismount    

Most riders would consider and use the standard dismount from their horse:

   Slow horse down

      Stop horse

   And dismount on left side of horse.

Being the creative rider that I am, I...... sorry, I am getting ahead of my story.

It was a beautiful, sunny, Florida afternoon in August. The type of day that is glorious and actually bearable, both in temperature and humidity, to make a ride desirable at 3:30 P.M. I saddled up my five year old Paso Fino Gelding and looked over to the pasture from the barn to see my husbands new Tennessee Walker Filly whinnying to come along. Star is still too young and light weight to carry the average rider. She had become very attached to my Paso. I had previously been leading her, at a walk, inside our property with my horse and she was did fine.

I looked over at her pretty sorrel face and sad eyes and decided to give her a walk along with Cloud Dancer. After haltering her onto the lead and mounting Cloud Dancer we started for our walk. We went out the property gate to ride along our country road on the 40 foot grassed edge along this road. After several trips up and back, we were returning towards the property gate when my husband appeared at the gate. Star was doing so well that I wanted to show him what she had accomplished. With Stars lead in my left hand and Cloud Dancers reins in my right hand I pushed them into a slightly faster walk.

This is when my glorious ride turned in the newest dismount"...    Star, edging closer to my horse, decided to give him a love nip to the face. He responded by backing down his ears, bearing is teeth, and going for her face. Into the second second of disaster, she bolted left....he bolted straight ahead....I catapulted off him, using my left arm, foolishly thinking I could break my fall; and then rolled onto my left hip, fracturing my femur and pelvis. A very undignified dismount!!!!    

Lesson learned ... no matter how skilled a rider you are, there will be days when you throw caution to the wind and pay dearly for this opportunity. I am on the mend and will ride again... as it was my fault that this occurred and not my pretty horses, who are after all, were just being horses"!!!!
