"INTERNATIONAL HEALTH & SUN STUDIES" report issued
This report, also dubbed the TANNINGHEALTH.ORG" report, reveals new evidence supporting health benefit claims for sunlight. It also suggests that changes are due in OLD SCHOOL medical and social bias against sunlight exposure.
Medically sound and scientifically accurate studies are collected and published just in time to help people protect themselves from the seasonally shorter days found in the Northern Hemisphere. Moderate sunlamp use is recommended if outdoor sunshine exposure not available.
Healthy Sunshine? Is that really possible?
"In a word, Yes!" This news according to Lonn Dugan, publisher of the new "INTERNATIONAL HEALTH & SUN STUDIES" report that has been released just in time to counteract seasonally shorter days in northern hemisphere.
Sources cited in the library of studies collected to support this study, also referred to as the, TANNINGHEALTH.ORG REPORT", include the Mayo Clinic, Johns Hopkins, The University of Michigan, Creighton University School of Medicine, Temple University, Boston University School of Medicine, a Fellow of the American Cancer Society, and many others. Papers are being placed online at http://www.TanningHealth.org">TanningHealth.org
This "TANNINGHEALTH.ORG REPORT" is released in the Fall season, because that is when days grow shorter for many people, in much of the world. These shorter days can deprive us of the sun exposure that is needed for good health.
After decades of seemingly endless and oft reported bad news about sun exposure and alleged Sun Damage", comes news that moderate Sun Tanning is actually good for what ails you!
A Few Proven Health Benefits For Those Who Get Enough Sunlight:
| | - A significant reduction in frequency of catching the common cold for those who get more sunlight (oft proven, many sources, whether by natural means or sunlamp use)
|
| | - A significant reduction in malignant melanoma as well as cancer rates for many common cancers, including skin cancer, breast cancer, and colorectal cancer. More significantly -- there is a reduction in cancer mortality for these cancers and others (as shown by Drs. Garland and Garland, for the U.S. Navy, and many others, by correlating epidemiological studies of geographic occurrence of various cancers, with a study of seasonal and cumulative sunlight intensity and sunlight distribution patterns around the world).
|
| | - A significant reduction in frequency or severity of osteoporosis and other bone diseases (most recently demonstrated by studies at the Boston University School of Medicine).

Details are found at the SunTanning.com web site, founded by Dugan, which carries a virtual library of reputable studies and reports regarding the health benefits associated with moderate use of sunlight or tanning salons.
Few people get enough sunlight to be truly healthy", says Dugan, who adds, "Those people groups who do not get enough sunlight can be shown to have problems with general health issues such as the common cold, as well as with cancer rates, cancer mortality rates, and frequency and severity of Osteoporosis and other bone diseases."
Medically sound and scientifically accurate studies are all pointing in one direction, according to Dugan and his associates who are fans of salon tanning for those who cannot get enough outdoor sunlight. The report was published as the culmination of a decade long effort, including much research by Dugan and his associates. After spending thousands of hours reviewing thousands of medical and scientific documents on the subject, Dugan claims that the results are consistent, if surprising, and that the evidence soundly reverses many old 'wives tales' that are based on bad science."
Dugan is excited to share his findings, and understands that the report raises a lot of questions. "The OLD SCHOOL studies have nothing to do with tanning, nothing to do with the real world, and nothing to do with human beings," he notes. The newer work cited has been done under much better conditions, with better controls, and it all points to good news for sun lovers and tanning salon patrons
"What we found was that the old, anti-tanning research was often done incorrectly", states Dugan. He continues, "Even the FDA admits grave concern that researchers often used the wrong UV test lamps, the wrong subjects, and/or the wrong doses. These old studies prove conclusively that burning mice is bad for their health", laughs Dugan. Most of them were done with laboratory test sunlamps containing 40% UVB (the burning ray) instead of the 2 -- 5% that found in nature, and at most tanning salons. The laboratory lamps were invented specifically to damage things, so you could test the durability of paints and coatings in severe sunlight exposed geographies.
Dugan postulates that no real correlation can be shown between these lamps and natural sun or tanning salon exposure on human beings. Nobody can even guess how much natural exposure these doses actually equaled, in the old, flawed, tanning tests" so often cited.
The TANNINGHEALTH.ORG REPORT" concludes that, It is not so unusual that new discoveries and more accurate research reverse older ideas." Dugan says he is very pleased to be able to commend the work of these researchers and institutions, and to report these findings!
