LeapPoint Announces Support for New WiFi Protected Access Security Standard
ANN ARBOR, MI., November 14, 2002 - LeapPoint Technologies, Inc., manufacturer of the first standards-based wireless security appliance, announced today that its line of AiroPoint Security Servers will support the new Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) standard adopted by the Wi-Fi Alliance.
We are excited about the adoption of the WPA standard," said Don Holland, CTO of LeapPoint, not only because it supports the 802.1x security standard, but also because it improves data encryption to make a more solid wireless security solution. LeapPoint is committed to supporting industry standards in our products, and will support WPA as it is rolled out in 2003, and will continue by supporting the pending IEEE 802.11i replacement when it is published later that year."
The AiroPoint 3600 Security Server is a complete wireless LAN access control and security solution based on the standard 802.1x security standard. The product can be installed in minutes and is configured with a browser-based interface, providing state-of-the-art security that is easily deployed across enterprise networks. The AiroPoint 3600 supports common EAP clients including Ciscos proprietary LEAP protocol available on its Aironet wireless products.
With complete AAA functionality, the AiroPoint 3600 provides authorization, authentication, and accounting services for other RADIUS-based equipment such as Network Access Servers, VPNs, Firewalls, and non-standards-based WLAN Access Points.
