Tanglefoot Company introduces compact, effective
pantry trap system for flour moths.
New, non-pesticide trap for Indian Meal moths and other pantry pests introduced by leading manufacturer of non-chemical pest management solutions.
GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- When it comes to stored foods, The Indian Meal moth is perhaps the prime pest. Not all homes or retail stores have this insect, but it becomes more common every day. While not known for carrying disease or causing any known health problems, they are nuisance pests that are annoying to everyone.
Indian Meal and other pantry moths prefer coarser grains of flour, and are most often found in packages of whole-wheat flour, graham flour and corn meal. Insects search for the smell of food, and search package products, trying to find an entryway. (Many times, dead larvae can be seen inside packages of flour.) As the larvae grow, they chew their way outside the package and spin their cocoons. Then, they emerge as an adult with wings, and begin to fly, straight into the Tanglefoot Pantry Trap System.
The new Tanglefoot Pantry Pest Trap has a pheromone that attracts the male moths; these males are captured in the trap, which interrupts the cycle of mating and egg laying, thus quickly reducing infestations of the moths. Each box contains two traps and two pheromone baits. The traps are pre-assembled. Simply placed near the ceiling near food storage areas, or inside food storage cupboards. The traps contain no pesticides.
The traps provide excellent performance while the compact design minimizes shelf space. from their sealed envelope.
