Dynamic Predictables December Monthly Temperature and Precipitation Outlooks

November 19, 2002, 3PM EDT, Columbia, Missouri

Dynamic Predictables releases to the public its December mean monthly outlooks of temperature and precipitation for all climate divisions of the United States. Dynamic Predictables forecast categories include: Average, Above Average or Below Average temperature and precipitation. No division is designated climatological" having an equal likelihood of normal, above normal or below normal. Dynamic Predictables computer algorithms are physics based, and they are not dependant upon sea surface temperature patterns or any other trendy environmental anomaly.

DECEMBER TEMPERATURES FROM THE ROCKIES WEST WILL RANGE FROM THE COOL SIDE OF AVERAGE TO DOWNRIGHT CHILLY, ESPECIALLY FROM SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ACROSS SOUTHERN NEVADA AND ARIZONA. TEMPERATURES EAST OF THE ROCKIES WILL BE AVERAGE TO WARMER THAN USUAL WITH THE WARMEST READINGS LIKELY IN THE PLAINS AND THE MISSISSIPPI AND OHIO VALLEYS. THE SOUTHEAST SHOULD BE MAINLY AVERAGE. THE APPLACHIANS AND EAST WILL ENJOY CLOSE TO AVERAGE TEMPERATURES ALTHOUGH THERE WILL BE A TENDENCY TOWARD WARMING INTO NEW ENGLAND.

DECEMBER PRECIPITATION WILL BE ABOUT ABVERAGE FROM THE CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN ROCKIES WEST ACROSS THE GREAT BASIN AND INTO THE SOUTHWEST. MOISTURE IN THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST WILL BE AVERAGE TO BELOW AVERAGE. THE PLAINS AND WESTERN CORN BELT WILL BE DRIER THAN USUAL. AVERAGE PRECIPITATION WILL STRETCH FROM THE MISISSIPI RIVER EAST TO THE APPLACHIANS. ABOVE AVERAGE PRECIPITATION WILL STRETCH ALONG THE APPLACHIAN RIDGE FROM WEST VIRGINA TO GEORGIA. CENTRAL AND SOUTHERN FLORIDA WILL BE DRIER THAN USUAL. NEW ENGLAND WILL TREND TO THE DRY SIDE OF AVERAGE.

The predictions should be useful to agriculture, construction, distribution and energy interests.
