PR Works Reveals Results of Media Opinion Survey" -
TV Rated Most Accurate in News Reporting

DATELINE: NORWELL AND PLYMOUTH, MA, NOVEMBER 18, 2002... In an assessment of the publics opinion of the media, a recent Media Opinion Survey" conducted by PR Works, a public relations and advertising firm based in Norwell, MA revealed that television reports the news most accurately over radio and print media.

In a recent Media Opinion Survey taken last month at the Plymouth Chamber of Commerces Business Expo 2002, 65 business leaders responded that they believe television to be the best medium for the most accurate news reporting. Radio, in particular, National Public Radio, was tied as second most accurate along with print media (newspapers and magazines).

According to PR Works survey:

·   Two-thirds of the people surveyed believe television to be the most accurate in reporting the news, while the rest equally preferred radio (specifically NPR) and print.

·   Almost all of the folks surveyed who read newspapers and magazines are generally interested in both the news and the advertisements, while the rest read only the news and approximately 2% read only the ads.

·   Three quarters of those surveyed who watch television or listen to the radio pay attention to the programming, while the remaining pay attention to both the programming and the ads.

·   The biggest business" news story of the year according to those surveyed was the Enron scandal while less than 10% mentioned news about the stock market and September 11th.

GARNERING INK
This is the second year we have conducted a Media Opinion Survey at the Plymouth Chamber of Commerce Business Expo. Last year, of 77 people surveyed, most people stated that print was the most credible of media sources. Im not surprised that television, by far, is the most popular news medium today, simply because its omnipotent. We can turn on the TV and choose from more than one news broadcast at just about any hour of the day. Convenience plays a large role," noted Steve Dubin, president of PR Works.
