LOS ANGELES - From inside the warped, Spanglish-mangling mind of award winning syndicated editorial cartoonist Lalo Alcaraz crawls La Cucaracha, the new daily comic strip debuting in newspaper funny pages nationwide. Universal Press Syndicate, home to political comic strips Doonesbury and The Boondocks, will launch La Cucaracha, the first nationally syndicated Latino- themed political daily comic strip on the week of November 25th, 2002. So far, 35 newspapers including the L.A. Times and the Chicago Tribune have signed on for La Cucaracha.
"Its been a dream of mine to quote myself in a press release written by me."
- LALO ALCARAZ
The funny pages will finally get a biting, funny daily comic strip with plenty of satirical Latino attitude. La Cucaracha will allow readers to experience life in that big Latino barrio now known as "the U.S.A." Featuring both realistic and outrageous characters and situations, La Cucaracha will make you laugh and possibly think. La Cucaracha explores issues of politics, ethnicity, immigration, biculturalism, racism, youth culture and Latino pop culture with brutally thought provoking satire.
